Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on Carl's status.  On December 27 Carol had an MRI that revealed cancer in at least two places in her spine.  The more pressing issue, however, was that her T3 vertebra had collapsed (due to a cancerous lesion that had weakened the bone) and the collapsed vertebra had pushed into her spinal column and had begun to cause damage.  She had been having back pain throughout December and by Christmas she was having shocks down the back of her legs and a loss of sensation in her feet. She had surgery to address that issue and free up her spinal cord on December 28.  They took biopsies of the bone during surgery and confirmed that this was breast cancer that has metastisized in her spine. She is about to begin treatment for the cancer.  We truly appreciate your support and Mom loves any words of hope and encouragement you may want to share. Thank you for visiting.
