Carol Francis (Hunter) Griffith, age 72, passed away peacefully of lung cancer on January 8, 2016 at the Serenity House in Victor, NY. She was born in Troy, NY on February 9, 1943 to Francis Norman and Mildred Virginia Hunter. Carol grew up in Mechanicville, NY and attended Mechanicville High School and SUNY Morrisville (now known as Morrisville State College).
Carol was predeceased by her parents and her beloved step-grandmother, Mayme (Mary Hunter). Survivors include her brother, Gary (Joanne) Hunter; her children, Michael (Anne Barsanti) Griffith, Karen (Roddy) Shuler, and Lynn (Jason) Bacher; her grandchildren, Sean, Moira, and Brendan Griffith, Nathan, Zachary, and Tiblet Shuler, and Grace and Chloe Bacher; her former husband and friend, Roger Griffith; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol's living circle of friends include those from childhood; the greater Victor community, including her neighborhood and church; the places she worked, including the bank, Canandaigua DMV, and Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES; her Parkinson Support Group; her participation in Victor Senior Parks and Recreation; her Victor YMCA family; and the places she volunteered, including the Victor Library and Neighbors in Ministry to Seniors (NIMS).
Carol will be remembered for the beautiful smile that she shared and her wonderful sense of humor. She appreciated sincere and genuine friendships and deeply cared for family. Carol also had a great affection for indoor and outdoor plants and was a lover of mystery novels and the sea (with sun protection of course!). She had an interest in the world around her and had great compassion in her heart for others.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. A memorial service and celebration of Carol's life will be held this summer in Victor, NY for all friends and family.
