I've created this page in an effort to streamline information for Dad's family and friends.  


The situation is grave and it changes daily, which has been very hard on Dad.  Here is what we know for sure:

In December, Dad had chest pains and trouble breathing and was admitted to a local hospital.  They found an 8 cm tumor in his right lung.  The local hospital attempted a biopsy but they were unable to perform it due to excessive bleeding.  This was not great.

He was referred to Sloan Kettering (MSKCC).  From there, testing confirmed adenocarcinoma in his lungs. It metastasized and spread to his lymph nodes & adenoids.   Dad was becoming weak, tired and sometimes confused. 

In February, more biopsies and genetic testing was done in an attempt to pin point the best treatment for his type of cancer.   Around March 1, the doctors at MSKCC decided immunotherapy would be the best course of action.  

But he never got to start treatment.  On March 4, Dad was brought by ambulance to a different local hospital after a fall. They discovered 2 lesions on the brain that are cancer as well as evidence of cancer in his spine.  The brain lesions measure 2 inches and .75 inches respectively.  Over the next 72 hours, there was mass confusion on the next steps ranging from brain surgery to radiation on the brain.  Dad's mental state began to decline. 

On March 11, a week later, Dad was transferred to MSKCC.  They found more brain lesions.  Following this discovery, Dad has had pinpoint radiation on his brain at MSKCC.   


I will be posting updates on Dad's journey as often as I can.  What I can say for sure is that he needs love, support and prayers.  He gets confused at times, so please be patient with him.
