Last week, my sweet and loving momma, Carmen Velez was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma.  This type of cancer is mainly found in young children, where it is considered curable.  In older patients, like my mom who is in her 70s, the condition is very rare, making it harder to treat.  She found out the cancer is in her right shoulder after a flu shot hit the exact spot, leaving her swollen and in severe pain for several weeks.  We are all devastated and frightened.  There is a long road ahead for my mom, involving several rounds of in-patient chemotherapy followed by a shoulder replacement surgery.  Please keep up with Carmen on this site and send her prayers and happy stories that I can share with her throughout this journey.
