IT’S MY STORY AND I’LL CRY IF I WANT TO!

On November 21, 2019, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma – Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), which is a rare and very aggressive form of breast Cancer heavily, diagnosed in younger women, African Americans, Hispanics, and/or those with a BRCA1 gene mutation. My TNBC is grade 3, meaning that it is a rapidly dividing cancer, which is more difficult to treat than any of the other breast cancer, and treatment is limited to only surgery and chemotherapy, which weakens the immune system as it destroys rapidly dividing cells that can cause serious short term and long-term side effects. As you can imagine, I was terrified about what would happen to me, and what would happen to my family without me. That fear quickly turned into HOPE when I knew that I had resources available to me.

The best part is---- I CAUGHT IT EARLY!

Using my caring bridge site will be therapeutic. It will keep my mind focused on what I am feeling and what is going on with my body along with keeping you informed along the journey. Many of you know that I love capturing memories for later reflection. This journey is no different. I will be posting pictures of this journey so in years to come I can reflect about being a SURVIVOR.

Throughout this journey, I will continue to TRUST in God and let the doctors do their work. I welcome ALL fervent prayers and encouraging words!

I am blessed to have such an amazing support system from family, friends, coworkers and my Church family plus the amazing team of doctors. Most importantly, I am blessed to have God carry me through this!

Thank you in advance for your continued support and prayers. Most of all THANK YOU for not letting me fight this journey ALONE!
