In mid November, Carlos started getting sick, and what his pediatrician and us thought was just a virus turned out to be Leukemia. He started with a running nose, he was very tired and sleepy, and he had fevers on and off. Later on, he complained of an ear ache that was diagnosed as an ear infection, as well as a stomach ache, and bleeding gums. The symptoms were getting worse so we were sent to the ER. In the ER, he had several blood test, and on a cold winter day on December 5th we were informed that our funny, loving, friendly, silly, persistent, and good hearted boy had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia type B. We couldn't believed it, but unfortunately it was true. Carlos was diagnosed with ALL type B. We were devastated with his new diagnosed because ALL type B was a more scary than the Autism and the Epilepsy ones. On December 5th, we began a new unknown and scary journey; a journey that will have ups and downs on Carlos' health; a journey that will take long hours, days, and weeks at the hospital; a journey in which we'll continue needing lots of prayers and lots of strength from all our family and friends.
We thank you for visiting our son's story in which I'll try to keep you updated with his progress. We hope you'll leave an encouraging message; send a funny joke, note or picture that will make Carlos smile and forget for a few minutes all his aches and pains. He'll feel loved by you, and that will be priceless for him and the rest of the family.
