My sisters and I created this site on Caringbridge to keep close friends and family informed on mom and dad.

Mom went into the hospital on May 9th( almost 3 weeks ago) for difficulty in breathing and excessive body swelling. Long story short she has a very bad leaking heart valve. The heart valve regurgitates the blood backwards into her lungs versus the blood moving through to the next heart chamber. This heart issue is what resulted her kidneys to fail (swelling) ect. A heart catheter was done on May 19th -10 days after admission to the hospital. Her kidney function and BP had to improve in order to have the heart Cath procedure. During that procedure doctors determined how bad the valve was leaking and nothing could be done at that point. Since then we had 2 heart surgeons review moms case and they declined performing the surgery. Mom is too high risk for open heart surgery. Post the heart cath procedure , mom now has 3 blood clots (thrombosis- medical term) that formed at the groin site from the heart cath. This past Thursday they injected a die into the clots to help dissolve them. Where we are today... Once the clots are under control we hope to move mom to a great rehab where she will get physical therapy and much attention. She needs to get stronger / healthier so we can convince a heart surgeon to perform the procedure she needs. Kidneys and BP are improving . Very happy about that.


Dad- stage 3 stomach/colon cancer.

Chemo on Tuesdays is tough on him- other then that he goes to work every morning at 7am and spends time with mom in the evenings.


Mom and Dad both expressed this week they are going to get well so they can run on a beach naked together!
