If some of you don't know - here is where this all began. On July 23, 2015 Carl was diagnosed with rectal cancer. He underwent 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. On November 19th, 2015 he had an 11 hour surgery to remove the 3" tumor. At that time they removed some healthy tissue and the results came back that the cancer was gone. However, in January 2016 he was having severe back pain and went in for some tests. The tests came back positive for metastatic rectal cancer. The cancer has spread to his spine, ribs and skull. Since the spine is weakened from the cancer he fractured his T8 and his L3. He did radiation on his L3 to reduce the size of the tumors which did help with pain. He underwent a procedure to inject his T8 with a type of medical cement that should help with the T8 that is causing a significant amount of pain. He is currently recovering from the spine surgery but is still in a lot of pain and is having a hard time getting the pain under control.

The treatment at this point is unknown as he has an open wound that hasn't healed since the surgery in November. We are heading to Seattle tomorrow morning (4/20/16) in hopes to have better treatment plans and options on how to deal with dads pain and cancer.
