Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Tom's health crisis started in December of 2015.  While in Utah visiting his in-laws, he went to the hospital in pain and was diagnosed with a large kidney stone.    Back in Minnesota, he had surgery for that, and then surgery for a parathyroid issue that had caused the kidney stone.  Around the same time as the kidney stone, he started having episodes in which he had difficulty with speech and thinking clearly.   In May, he found out that these were small seizures caused by a brain tumor.  Soon after, he had surgery to remove the brain tumor and got the devastating news that the tumor was gliosarcoma, a rare form of glioblastoma.  It is a very aggressive form of cancer that very few have survived.  Since then, it has been a whirlwind of appointments, treatments, a second surgery, and a lot of medication.

Tom was doing pretty well throughout the summer and early fall.  At this point in time (Dec. 2016), his pain has become difficult to manage.  He has been in the hospital a couple of times, and has now been moved to North Ridge Rehab.   He is expected to stay there until such time he is strong enough to return home.  He is in room 603.

Again, we thank you for every kindness you have shown to Tom & Jeri, and to his extended family.
