Our mom Caren Boucher has had a lot going on physically and I wanted to have a place for people to get updates and help us in supporting her. She has had Epilepsy for at least 45 years and has some brain damage with some mental complications, as well as had 3 right hip surgeries in the last 8 months due to multiple falls during her seizures and weakness from surgery's. She is a strong women and a prayer warrior There has been rapid change in her health that has lead us to the realization that she is no longer safe to be in independent living and we had to move her to a Skilled Nursing facility, which is located in Arvin, CA. With all the healing that needed to go on with the surgeries we needed to address another issues with her uterus. So on June 29th she had a hysterectomy which is where they found the cervical cancer and noticed it has spread to the ovaries and lymph nodes. We have been working with the Oncologists at Rio Bravo Cancer Center in Bakersfield and they did a scan to see if the cancer spread anywhere else in her body. We learned on 8/7/18 that she has many nodules in her lungs with the largest being 1 centimeter. At this point, we are still following up with the oncologist since the option they are giving us now is Chemotherapy over radiation treatment option. She has lost so much weight and yes we are taking everything into account as far as what will be best for my mom and making sure she knows this is her life and choice as well. We have been and will always be her advocate, but it is really heavy and we are seeking peace and wisdom in this. We are a strong family and would love any support and prayers you can give. We have been driving back and forth to appointments and visiting her, thankful to have an understanding jobs, but it still has taken a toll on us mentally, physically and financially. We are blessed to have such loving and caring family and friends during this hard time. Any help is welcome and appreciated. Please visit this page for future updates and feel free to share. Love and peace!
