Cappy Harrell Cappy's Cancer Journey

First post: Feb 26, 2021 Latest post: Dec 27, 2021
My story began with a visit to  my PCP to discuss Flu Shots and such. While there, we discussed any changes that have been going on. I indicated that my shortness of breath had gotten worse as  had the muscle fatigue in my legs. After noting that I had not seen a Pulmonologist in a couple of years (I have moderate emphysema), it was decided that I should have a chest x-ray  while at the Doctor's office. The x-ray showed a mass on my left lung the approximate size of a tennis ball. A CT scan was ordered the next day and that showed the mass as well as some lymph node involvement. Next came the biopsy which confirmed that it was cancer. After a PET scan and a visit with the Oncologist, it was determined to be Stage 3 Lung Cancer. I will begin Chemotherapy and Radiatiion treatments on March 1. Currently, we are hoping to be done with Radiation in 5 weeks and the Chemo in 12 weeks.
