My story began with a visit to my PCP to discuss Flu Shots and such. While there, we discussed any changes that have been going on. I indicated that my shortness of breath had gotten worse as had the muscle fatigue in my legs. After noting that I had not seen a Pulmonologist in a couple of years (I have moderate emphysema), it was decided that I should have a chest x-ray while at the Doctor's office. The x-ray showed a mass on my left lung the approximate size of a tennis ball. A CT scan was ordered the next day and that showed the mass as well as some lymph node involvement. Next came the biopsy which confirmed that it was cancer. After a PET scan and a visit with the Oncologist, it was determined to be Stage 3 Lung Cancer. I will begin Chemotherapy and Radiatiion treatments on March 1. Currently, we are hoping to be done with Radiation in 5 weeks and the Chemo in 12 weeks. Andy and I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers through this and we respectfully ask that you respect our privacy along this journey. Donna Stewart will be maintaining this CaringBridge site along with Andy and we promise to keep you updated.
