Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Friday, July 16th

Approximately 5:30 pm, Stan was taken by ambulance to John Muir Medical Facility-ER in Concord.  He was showing signs of a possible heart attack and was in great distress.

After tests were run, he was diagnosed with a critical life threatening “aortic dissection” from heart to groin.  Within a couple of hours, he was taken into a very long and complicated surgery where the doctors also discovered an “aortic aneurysm” above the aortic valve.
He was in surgery for close to 8 hours where they removed the aneurysm and patched up the aortic dissection at the upper part of his descending aorta (closest to his heart).
They now have to watch carefully for any bleeding in his aorta as they hope that the lower portion of the aortic dissection will begin to heal on its own – as there are still a few tiny holes that need to close up.

Stan is now in ICU, where he is being closely monitored and cared for as his body tries to regain strength and healing.  There have been some bumps in the road -- read about them and how you can be praying for Stan and his family in the journal entries.
