For several months, I’ve been battling severe stomach issues. After receiving mistaken diagnoses of diverticulitis and colitis, my pain was so excruciating, I went to the emergency room for relief.  Due to the pain, I couldn’t lie still on my back to have a cat scan performed.  
 
After 3 doses of pain medication, I was able to undergo a cat scan.  The scan revealed intestinal issues that required additional testing so I was admitted into St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital on Monday, November 25, 2019 (just before Thanksgiving).  
 
I had to endure the pain for one week until I could have surgery on December 2, 2019.  The surgery revealed cancer around my intestines.  Because the cancer had spread throughout the abdominal cavity, although not in my colon, it is labeled Stage 4.  
 
While recovering from the surgery itself, which was to relieve my pain, I am trying to understand the unexpected news that comes with Stage 4 cancer.  I have been advised to get my affairs in order.

Can you believe that! Just last week, I was enjoying and celebrating life with my precious daughter Samantha.  I was also working my decades-long career as a professionally trained interior designer.  I have moved furniture to its exact desired location while suggesting ways my wonderful clients could make their houses beautiful homes for their families’ enjoyment.
