I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on May 26, 2017.  That was quiet a shock, seeing that there is no family history.  I found out that I was triple positive.  It was the not so good type of breast cancer to have because it involved 6 rounds of chemo and surgery.  Yet, it was the good kind to have because there was a proven treatment plan for my type of breast cancer.  The month of June was filled with making doctor's appointments, 2nd opinion appointments, calling medical groups and insurance companies on a daily basis.  I was so afraid that I would not get the type of care I wanted in my hometown and with my HMO insurance.  I wanted a team of professionals that all worked together for my greatest good.    My friend Susan warned me that doing all this footwork would be like taking on a full time job.  Boy was she right!  I got the strength to continue fighting  and self- advocated, with a great deal of help from a higher source.  Finally, my world changed when I was able to establish care with UCSD Moore's Cancer Center.  A wave of calm and peace came over me as I knew that I was in good hands.
