Becki Anderson Cancer Smansure My Story

First post: Feb 22, 2018 Latest post: Apr 5, 2018
I was living life with a 17 year old stepdaughter Marissa, a 7 year old boy Reagan, and a 5 year old little girl Lauren and that came to an abrupt hault in 2011. I was diagnosed with Stage 3  Breast cancer. I had 6 months of chemo treatment, (after 3 treatments they could not find the cancer), a double mastectomy, and 33 rounds of radiation. I started taking Tamoxifen. A hormone treatment. I went back to work that January 2012, my hair was growing back and I was settling back into our new normal life as I knew it.

Fast forward to Sept 2014. I got Type 2 diabetes, was tired all the time, and really did not feel the greatest. I had been going to my oncologist every few months for blood work and nothing ever showed up in the blood work. I had a feeling something was not right. I asked my oncologist to run some other tests. I told him I thought I had pancreatic cancer or something was going on. My liver enzyme test came back elevated so he sent me to my Primary Doctor. I literally begged him twice to do a CT scan. He finally said okay...

I will never forget where I was when I found the cancer had spread. I had taken the day off of work since Lauren was sick and my Primary Doctor called and said "I am sorry but you have cancer in your Liver" it was like I hit a wall. Life just stops in place. Not only in the liver but very diffused in the liver which means there was quite a few areas involved. Now we were in for another fight. Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in the liver.

Now it is January 2018 and I have been blessed to be here still kicking for 6 years. I decided to create a Caring Bridge site to keep my friends and family updated on my health. Unfortunately, while being off of chemo for 8 weeks while traveling to the Mayo to look for a Clinical Trial my health has rapidly declined over that time. And.. we did not find any Clinical Trials. Now it is time to reach out to friends and family and share my story. I was not very good at updating people before and would like to change that. I have some amazing friends and family and prayer warriors!!!
