Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting and lifting Camryn up in prayer. The journey will be difficult but the many family and friends who are supporting us through this truly gives us peace and strength.
After her June 2015 diagnosis of idiopathic scoliosis we now have elected for surgery with Dr Pahys "pays" at Shriners Philadelphia. His recommendation in October 2016 recommended spinal fusion in 3-6 months. Fortunately, they had a surgical appt available in December and is taking place tomorrow, 12/28/16. 
We flew to Philadelphia yesterday noon.  Ground transport is easy with Lyft or Uber. We ate dinner at CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) and seen a movie "Passengers".  A little sci-fi is good distraction for reality.
Today we admitted Camryn at 12:45 and now calls room 524A her home for the next several days. She's had numerous appts with x-ray, NP history & physical, SMA short for spinal motion analysis...a new testing they started here in August; then check-in with anesthesia, a pregnancy test (???)  and started her IV. Three magic orange pills Have kicked in so many trips to the restroom (ewww).  Tonight for dinner she wanted her first Philly Cheese Steak...we heard Steve's has the best but they don't deliver here so we settled for City View who does deliver.
Tomorrow is Day 0...they will take her to PACU for anesthesia at 7:00am then to OR for surgery starting at 8:00-8:30. Expects to be in surgery for 5-6 hours. After awake she will go to PICU for 1-2 days. So far Camryn has thus far remained calm;  this is thanks to her BFF, McKinley being here with her.  Pray we all get a good night's sleep for the big day tomorrow...
