Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Jeff and I are using it to keep family and friends updated about my journey with Chronic Kidney Disease. I was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy (a kidney disease) in 2015 and was able to manage it quite well with medication until June of 2019. It was then that my kidneys took a turn for the worse. Although my doctors attempted to slow down the decline, I experienced another rapid decline in November 2019. After a couple of weeks in the hospital, it was clear that I was in renal failure, and that my kidneys had stopped working altogether. I was on dialysis for several months, when I miraculously received a call that there was a deceased donor, "0 mismatch" kidney available for me, which is essentially, a perfect match. I had my kidney transplant on January 24, 2020 and am now post-transplant, healing quite well, and looking forward to a new lease on life. We appreciate all of the support, prayers, and words of hope and encouragement we have received and that we continue to receive from family and friends.
