Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Callie was involved in a head-on collision on December 1, 2021. She was stopped at a red light and someone ran a red light and hit Callie head-on on the driver's side. When the person hit Callie it moved her car across 3 lanes and hit other cars also. The engine of Callie's car was pushed in to where the driver's seat was. The emergency crews took 2 hours to extract Callie from the car. They had to remove both doors on the driver's side and remove the dash to get Callie out. They then life flighted her to HCMC in Minneapolis where they performed an 8 hour surgery on her heart. The extent of her injuries is still being discovered but what we know so far is she has two broken legs, which they have placed external rods on both, a broken elbow on one arm and a broken wrist on the other, which also has external rods, a fractured skull, broken ribs, and a bursted heart valve which is what they repaired in surgery. Today they needed to put a tube in her lung to get a bubble out because it would have suffocated her. She is in very critical condition. I will update as I learn more about Callie's condition. No visitors are allowed due to Covid. Please send prayers.
