Note from November: Callie is currently in the Neurology Unit at Swedish Cherry Hill with a brain tumor in her cerebellum.  Here is the story briefly.

She had headaches in the back of her head for the last 5 or 6 weeks.  Dizziness, nausea, started a couple of weeks ago.  She was unable to work this past week— lots of nausea and vomiting.  She went to her doctor on Monday, got some medicine and was told to call back in a couple weeks. On Wednesday it got a lot worse. Jud said to call the doc and insist on an MRI.

Thursday afternoon she had the MRI. They found two lesions on the left side of her cerebellum.  They immediately sent to ER at Swedish that has a strong neuro unit.  She had a CT scan of her body Thursday night. No other tumors found.  Friday night she had another MRI of her whole spine to make sure no tumors  were  there. They currently believe it started in her brain.  She is now on steroids to reduce swelling to make surgery go better and is being monitored.

Surgery is planned for Monday morning. Recovery from surgery will take 4-6 weeks with the first week or two will be pretty rough—nausea, maybe some trouble moving smoothly, balance, etc.  If it’s cancer, we probably won’t have the details for another week or so after surgery.  And then figure out a treatment plan.

The plan could change. It’s been a bit of a moving target. She’s taking it all well.
