On September 9, 2016, Cailin’s 13th birthday, she was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma in her right leg just above the knee. Cailin had been having knee pain for several weeks. She is a talented swimmer and was just getting ready to start the competitive season. Her parents and coach had been diligently monitoring the knee pain trying rest and different therapies to help it improve. After not seeing improvement her mother, Lisa, decided to take her to the orthopedist. The orthopedist thought it might be a meniscus tear so an MRI was ordered. The cancerous tumor was revealed in the MRI and a biopsy was done to confirm.
This CaringBridge website will be used to keep family and friends updated on Cailin's progress. Words of hope and encouragement are greatly appreciated. Thank you for visiting.
