Butch (Milton) Carlson

Hello All! Well as many of you already know dad has had his battles with his health the last few years. It has been a struggle for him but he concurred them each time with stride. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case this time. We received the news today that because of liver failure, things don’t look good. Honestly, we were a bit surprised. 
A couple weeks ago we dealt with some adema. I told dad if it gets worse again he better make a clinic appointment because it could be something other than just edema. Well, yesterday his feet started hurting and so he and mom went to the clinic. His legs and feet were so swollen that his feet had started to get slits in them. The doc decided to have dad admitted to the hospital and with doing so ordered some blood work and tests. He had settled in and had a pretty restful night. His feet and legs are looking so much better. Unbeknown to us dad had gained around 20 lbs (which for someone who barely eats is shocking). Dad dresses in layers so it had gone unnoticed. This late morning early afternoon the doctor shared with us that the fluid buildup is due to his liver failing. 
Dad handled the news as well as one could.  He is as strong  minded as he always has been but has left it up to the doctors, nurses and family to make decisions for what would best benefit him. We will keep you updated. Thank you for checking in.
