On February 6, 2020 Burson was taking to Children's Medical Center for severe abdominal pain. After many diagnostic test and blood work Burson was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (type B). On Friday he had a port placed, bone marrow biopsy, a spinal tap and chemo placed in his spinal fluid. He received his first infusion of chemo on Friday night and has another chemo infusion scheduled for today (Monday, Feb 10th). He will be receiving outpatient chemo once a week for the next 6-8 months while also being homeschooled. After that he will receive monthly chemo for the next 3 years.
Burson has had incredibly high spirits through the whole process. When he found out about the diagnosis he said, "Cancer won't win because God always wins!" We are praying and believing that he will have minimal side effects to the chemo and that he would be protected from illness throughout the treatment. We are claiming "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
Please pray for the Marable's as they walk through this very difficult journey of adjusting to life with a child with ALL. We are thankful that we serve a God of hope and that He is with us even in the most challenging of times.
Burson is the 3rd child and only boy of the sweet Marable family. He has two big sisters - Emery Kate and Molly and 1 younger sister Lucy who love their brother so much and need to be prayed for as well as they adjust to this new life with their brother.
