On May 20, 2019, Bryn collapsed while on her afternoon run in Anchorage, where she was working in the Intensive Care Unit as a critical care nurse (CCRN). She suffered a ruptured aneurysm of the middle cerebral artery with massive subarachnoid hemorrhages.
