Bryan St. Amant

Hi loved ones.  It's Sheri.  I'm starting this blog to keep my phone freed up to talk to the kids, etc. and keep our people informed about this difficult  news.  Bryan had a stroke.  A brain bleed that probably started Saturday night, but I discovered Sunday afternoon when I got home from a trip, and he woke up from a nap in an altered state.   He was aphasic (speaking nonsensically) and amnestic (not remembering), had bitten his tongue and possibly had a seizure at some point during the night.   We spent several hours in Santa Rosa ER bringing down his blood pressure, and then transferred to another hospital.  Right now he is in good hands at Kaiser's neurological ICU in Redwood City with a diagnosis of a hemorrhagic stroke.  He is NOT PARALYZED or in pain.  He has significant language disturbance effecting comprehension and talking and reading and writing, and memory loss, which you can imagine is a huge deal for him.  His sense of humor and charm are intact, and his natural expressiveness is a big help for communication.  It also helps that I can read his mind, and already speak Aphasic.  For now we sit tight and wait for updates from the Neuro docs, and hope for good news..  Love you and feel free to reach out to me or the kids.  Just be patient if we don't get back right away.
