Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Bruce's family was on a 6 week cross country road trip, but Bruce had to return home for work early.   On June 28 he had physical ( breaking from his usual once a decade or so physical schedule by at least 7 years) so he could meet the Boy Scout's requirement's on joining his son at scout camp scheduled shortly after the families return. Though feeling in good health he was called back for some more blood work a couple days later. On July 2, Marlene, 1700 miles from home heard that Bruce's white blood cell count as well as some other blood numbers were 90 % below the critical minimums ( not sure how he able to function normally with that low of blood quality numbers with only a slight feeling on tiredness.).  Bruce was admitted to the hospital on July 2 for further blood testing and eventually a bone marrow biopsy test.   Marlene and her children arrived back home on July 6.  On July 7, Bruce was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.  Chemotherapy was started right away.  On July 7, they were in faith, trusting Jesus Christ for help and deliverance saying, "We are grateful to God for all he has done to prepare us and guide us (we have been amazed!)." They continue in faith everyday.   Bruce's spirits have been amazingly high.  The Mika's church family (Redeeming Grace Church of Fairfax) and local immediate family is taking wonderful care of this dear family.
