Bruce's Fight Song:
https://youtu.be/4F-DDDypKh0 Bruce woke up on January 16th with a swollen and sore throat. He was started on antibiotics but continued to not feel well. He saw his doctor on January 18th and had blood work done. The blood work showed a very elevated white blood cell count, more than 10 times the normal limit. He was sent to Abbott to be admitted for further testing. Bruce had a bone marrow biopsy which showed that he has AML, acute myeloid leukemia. AML is a type of cancer that affects his infection-fighting cells. It causes his bone marrow to make cancer cells instead of the blood cells that he needs.
Bruce had a catheter placed on 1/19 to be able to start an intensive chemotherapy. He will have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks to get chemotherapy. Bruce will have another bone marrow biopsy in two weeks to check to make sure the chemotherapy is killing off the cancer cells.
