At a time when Cory and Desiree should be making final preparations for their new baby who will be arriving in 3 months, they received heartbreaking news.  On Thursday, September 7th, their daughter Brooklynn was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in both of her eyes.  Her right eye is the worse of the two, with little vision left.  Their only ray of good news being that, last week, they received the news that the cancer had not spread and is currently isolated in just her eyes.  Brooklynn has been set up with an extensive care team at the U of MN Masonic Children's Hospital and already has had a port placed and had her first round of chemotherapy given last Thursday and Friday.  Her team of doctors are not sure what the state of her vision will be long term at this time, but are very optimistic that she will pull through the cancer, which has a very high treatment success rate.  She is a tough little girl!  She will continue to go in for monthly, sedated eye exams and chemotherapy treatments in addition to twice weekly blood draws for blood counts and numerous other doctor appointments.
