Hello friends and family,
Unfortunately, here we are again. This past October routine MRI's showed that Brooke has some new, small brain tumors; this time in the center ventricles of her brain which makes them inoperable. She immediately started treatment with a Chemo pill, but it led to severe side affects after only a few weeks. Brooke then started showing some disorientation and aversions to foods she has always loved. A follow up MRI showed that the tumors are blocking some of the outflow of brain fluid, causing swelling and pressure on her brain. She is currently staying at the hospital in Madison and will have shunt surgery on Monday (Nov. 22) to alleviate this. Next she will begin radiation treatments to target the tumors more quickly.
We will continue posting updates here as we learn more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
February 2020
In mid January, Brooke starting having severe headaches that wouldn't go away, but only increased in intensity. In early February she went to Neenah for an MRI and doctors discovered a tumor on the right frontal lobe of her brain, similar in size to two golf balls. She is currently working with a highly recommended neurosurgeon in Madison and will have surgery this Wednesday, Feb 19th, to remove the tumor. There is no prognosis at this time, but pathology reports after the surgery will tell us what kind of tumor it is and what line of care comes next.
