Britni Radford

Anyone who has the pleasure of knowing Britni, or has the honor of calling her friend or family, knows how brightly Britni's light shines for the Lord. She loves God, trusts and believes in his word wholeheartedly, and is not shy about sharing that love with those she meets. Britni, Travis, and the Radford family needs our prayers now more than ever.

Around October of last year, Britni started noticing some unusual symptoms, which eventually turned into pain that has increased significantly over the last couple months. Britni had multiple doctors appointments, diagnostic tests and biopsies done, and on February 24th, she was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, which is a form of breast cancer. There is a painful mass in her breast, and another confirmed site in a lymph node under her arm. This has been devastating news to grapple with, and the Radford family have been clinging tightly to their family and church family as they try to process this news and prepare for what is to come.

One week after diagnosis, March 3rd, Britni was experiencing extreme pain across her chest and back that worsened to the point where she was struggling to breathe, and the pain became unbearable. Britni went to the emergency room, where over the course of 7 hours they performed many tests, including chest x-rays, complete bloodwork and a CT scan. After several hours they were able to manage her pain a bit, praise God! Due to Covid restrictions, Travis was unable to be with Britni in the hospital, and waited in the parking lot until she was released just before 4am. Travis had loyal friends by his side while he waited, and I am reminded yet again why God calls us to live in community with one another. So very thankful he was not alone while he waited, although it was heartbreaking to not be allowed to have anyone by Britni's side. This is such an incredibly challenging time to face a health crisis, with so many restrictions in place. Unfortunately, the testing resulted in some more hard news, as the CT scan showed that her cancer has progressed to her bones. Lesions were found on her sternum, and in a few places on her thoracic spine, which explains why Britni has been experiencing the level of pain that she has. From what we have learned, cancer in the bones is excruciating.

The Radford family is once again trying to wrap their heads around what feels like another huge blow. Britni's mom and dad, Sherry and David, are also trying to come to grips with this heartbreaking news. This kind of news is every parent's worst nightmare. Tomorrow, Friday March 5th, Britni and Travis will meet with her oncologist for the first time and hopefully have a lot more answers at that point as far as what the treatment plan is moving forward. The appointment is at 1 o'clock so please keep them in your prayers. They are anxious for answers, but as expected, are also nervous for the unknown and what is to come. Please pray specifically for healing of Britni's body, and protection over her mind and thoughts.

We are placing our trust in God who we know is far bigger than cancer, and we are leaning on Him and asking for him to be with Britni and guide her every step as she navigates through these uncharted waters. Thank you for your love and support for Britni and the Radford family!
