Brian was diagnosed with stage 1b lung cancer in July 2014. Brian under went surgery to remove the small tumor and his lower lobe in his left lung. Brian had a scan in early September 2014 which showed no cancer cells present. The following scan in January 2015 showed that cancer cells were present in one of his lymph nodes between his lungs. Brian underwent Chemo therapy and Radiation therapy  beginning the 3rd week in February, he had 37 radiation treatments and 12 chemo treatments in a 7 week time span. The following 2 scans done in September and December 2015 both showed no cancer cells. Brian's next scan was just recently done on August 29th 2016 and unfortunately this scan showed a lymph node had grown since last scan. They then did a Pet Scan and Biopsy on August 31st 2016. The biopsy results shows cancer cells have returned in the lymph node. They are presently doing genetic testing on the cancer cells from his original tumor to the present cancer cells to see how the cell mutations are changing and with hope that Brian will be able to have a treatment called Immunotherapy the kill the cancer cells. We are waiting for the call from the doctor to let Brian know if he will be able to have this treatment. I will continue to update as information becomes available. Please keep Brian in your prayers !
