Brian was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in February 2016.  He began the lung transplant protocol at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida in May.  The United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) listed Brian as a candidate for a lung transplant on Wednesday, September 14th.  He received a call on Thursday, September 22nd that a match had been found in a small town in Georgia.  Brian underwent successful left lung transplantation early on Friday morning, September 23rd.
