Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on Brian's health in one place.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

A few weeks ago, Brian began experiencing some concerning symptoms that led him to get checked by a urologist. They found a tumor in his bladder. On July 6th, they successfully removed the tumor; it was discovered that it was malignant and had spread to the inner lining of his bladder. He was diagnosed with high grade T1 transitional cell carcinoma (bladder cancer). He immediately began chemo treatment (Gemcitabine) the next day, July 7th.

Praises
We have so much to be grateful for.  Although this is an aggressive and  recurring type of cancer. we are grateful that we caught it early. Brian will undergo chemo treatment once a week for the first six weeks. Then continue treatment once a month for the next 2 1/2 years as long as the cancer does not recur.  Everything is moving quickly. He has already had one treatment last week and is moving on to his next one this Friday. Because this chemotherapy drug is instilled directly into the bladder and not through the veins, it is unlikely that he will experience the side effects people often associate with chemotherapy.

Prayer Requests
-We ask that you join us in praying that if there are any remains of cell abnormality, that it disappears with treatment and does not spread into the muscle layer outside the bladder or appear elsewhere. If it does not, that the doctors are able to see it at his next cytoscopy and are able to successfully resect the  portion of the bladder that needs to be removed.
-Please pray for no infections to arise through the treatments.
- Chemo treatment is cumulative. Please pray for Brian's strength and stamina to remain strong as the chemo treatment intensifies.
- Please pray for the Lord to make it clear regarding how we should proceed as we seek other expert opinions.
-Finally, please pray for peace for our family as we walk this journey.

We love and thank you all tremendously for your acts of kindness, prayers, and support.
