On January 29th Brett was diagnosed with Grade 3 Malignant Astrocytoma. Astrocytoma is a primary brain tumor. A primary brain tumor is a tumor that started in the brain - not a tumor that started somewhere else in the body and then spread to the brain. Brett has three of these tumors. He will have two separate surgeries to try to remove as much of two of the tumors as possible before starting a lengthy radiation/chemo treatment. Astrocytoma is not curable but since Brett is so young, strong and healthy they are treating him very aggressively to help prolong a quality life for him.
