Hi Brent's journey began on February 13 when he came down with the flu. He and our daughter Amanda came down with the same symptoms that day but Amanda was only down for 3 days. Brent kept telling me he was feeling a little better even though he spent most of the week in bed. Despite my repeated attempts to get him to the doctor, he refused. As most of you know, Brent can be quite an ironhead sometimes (one of the reasons I love him)! The following Saturday, February 20, I returned home from our winemaking business to find him short of breath and with a blue tint to his skin. I told him I was calling 911 for which I will not repeat here his response! I called a dear friend of ours, Suzi, who is a Hospice Nurse and she and her husband Bruce came immediately. Bruce told Brent that going to the hospital was not a choice and we proceeded to drive him to the hospital which is only 2 miles away. From there he was airlifted to Memorial of Savannah because his muscles had started breaking down and he was in kidney failfure. His lungs were and still are his main area of concern. He was diagnosed with Type A H1N1 flu (Swine flu) To this day it boggles my mind to see how deadly the flu can be. We almost lost him and he has a long way to go. Thank you for all of the concern and prayers. Thank you to family and friends who have gone above and beyond to make sure that Amanda and I have the support and love needed to get through this. I will add more later, I'm off to the hospital Love Jane
