On April 16th our family received news that we would have never imagined. After dealing with on and off headaches and vomiting for over a month, a CT scan revealed that our precious Brenna had a brain tumor. We immediately came to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. That night she went into surgery to have a tube put in to externally drain the fluid as the tumor was preventing it from properly draining. The next day she had an MRI to get a better look at the tumor and get a better idea on removing it. She went in surgery Friday at approximately 9:45am which lasted about 6 hours. The surgery went well and the surgeon got most of the tumor with the possible exception of some that was intertwined with some nerves. After surgery she had movement in all of her extremities and was able to tell where she was, her name as well as any other questions she was asked. She even knew the date which I did not. She had a followup MRI to see how the surgery went and it looked very good. After surgery she spent two nights in ICU. Today (Sunday) she was moved out of ICU to the neuroscience floor. We're crossing our fingers that this will be our last stop before she can go home. She's been vomiting a fair amount but it is getting better. She sleeps for most of the day which is the best for her right now. She's taking a sip here and there of liquids but hasn't really eaten anything since surgery. We met with the physical therapist today and she will start physical therapy tomorrow. We can't thank you all enough for all of the sent prayers and tremendous support. We will try to keep you all updated through this page.
