Thank you for visiting Brenda’s CareBridge site. Brenda has so many loved ones and is a cherished, mother, sister, friend, aunt, grandmother, and co-worker. A loving and deeply loyal person, she has dedicated her life to taking care of everyone else, so it’s now time for us to take care of her. This site is designed to share information all in one place.

As you may know, Brenda was admitted to the hospital in July, with some concerns about headaches, mobility, and feeling ill. After extensive testing, the hospital diagnosed her with Guillain-Barre (gee-YAN Buh-RAY) syndrome. GBS is a rare neurological/immune disorder that attacks nerves. Brenda has been experiencing partial paralysis in her limbs and torso, but has had some movement in her hands, arms, and no paralysis in her face. GBS is very unpredictable, and after some time in the hospital, she was moved to intensive care for respiratory failure. She was stabilized and showing improvement over the weekend. She has had some positive response to the IVIg (Intravenous immunoglobulin) treatment, but it takes some time to determine whether the treatment is working, so they are keeping her in ICU under strict observation. She has an impressive team of doctors and she's doing famously at keeping them on their toes.

Right now, Brenda is limiting visitors so she can focus on her recovery, but welcomes well wishes, prayers, and support. If you’re interested in visiting, please contact a close friend or family member and we can assist you. Please share your well wishes on this site or feel free to update the journal entry if you visit and would like to share an update. Questions can be asked here as well- I’ll do my best to check it every day. Thanks for sharing your love and support!
