On Tuesday April 11th Brandon was admitted to Critical Care ICU at Valley Medical center for acute kidney failure.
The full story is long but in short, on April 3rd Brandon's leg got trapped under his motorcycle for about 10 min. His foot and leg were not broken, but severely crushed. Due to complications with Brandon's doctor becoming ill and out of service his medication was stopped unexpectedly. This caused severe withdrawals, internal complications and long periods of bed best. All of this combined caused his muscles to deteriorate and his blood to fill with particles of muscle. His kidneys could not process this material and shut down.
He is presently getting dialysis each day to clean his blood and give his kidneys time to heal. He came to the hospital with 28,000 particles in his blood (the ideal number is under 500). Today he has 17,000 so we are headed in the right direction. He is in severe pain, as you can imagine from muscle breaking down and long periods of being immobile. He cannot walk or stand. He has been an amazingly brave patient through multiple port surgeries, ultrasounds, and dialysis for 3 hours a day.
His foot and side remain bruised and swollen from the motorcycle incident. This afternoon his foot became completely non-responsive to touch or sensation. The doctors believe it might be nerve damage.
We appreciate your prayers for HEALED KIDNEYS. This will be what will determine much of his future. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate you all so much. Rick and Diane
