Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Brad Parr.  We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.  Because it would be very time-consuming to respond to everyone's calls, texts, FB posts, etc. we have created this site to share news about Brad.  Feel free to share this site with others.

What happened:  Brad was riding his horse on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his home when he experienced a hemorrhagic brain bleed causing an apparent stroke.  He had texted a friend earlier who had attempted to call him and when Brad didn’t answer he drove over and found Brad unconscious.  He was transported via med-a-flight to OU Medical in Oklahoma City and is currently in ICU.

Injuries: He has a tennis ball size bleed on the right side of his brain. He is under sedation and responds to commands well on the right side, but there are some limitations on his left side.  He knows Kimra and Shantel are in the room with him and squeezes their hands when they talk to him.

Next Steps:  The doctors are attempting with medication to keep the swelling in Brad’s brain from increasing. Where the ‘bleed’ is prevents the doctors from just draining it surgically and they are working to keep his swelling down to avoid surgery.   We will update here on this site as we know more. Right now the family is watching, waiting and praying.

What can you do:  First of all, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!  Kimra, Shantel and other family members are beyond exhausted so they may not be able to respond much to phone calls and texts.  They do however appreciate the love you have for them and their family.  We’ll update more later on ways to help and bless this family as they navigate through Brad’s recovery.
