Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Please understand that this site is intended to keep everyone posted as it is sometimes difficult to repeat the tale so many times.   We  are touched by all the support, prayers and kindness we have received so far and are VERY APPRECIATIVE.

In October, Brad had his first and totally unexpected seizure.  After a battery of CAT scans, MRI's, and other tests, they determined that there was an unidentified mass on the left side of his brain.  The neurosurgeons in Fargo felt it was best for him to be treated by the Mayo Clinic given the nature and complexity of the mass.  In December, we had our first visit to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester which established that the mass was a tumor but it was still impossible to tell if it was benign or malignant.  Rather than do a biopsy simply to determine the nature of the tumor, they recommended removing it surgically.  On December 20, Brad had surgery and they removed a baseball sized tumor on the back left side of his brain.  They said it was a smooth procedure and that the location of the tumor should have minimal impact on overall function.  Brad is recovering nicely but there is some impairment in terms of fine motor and language skills.  We're still waiting for the pathology results and expect to move into an acute in-patient rehab facility  within the Mayo system in Rochester.  We will continue making updates here to report any new developments.
