Boris Kozolchyk Borko Kid Groupies

Well no one wants to have to start a Caring Bridge site, but here we are.  Writing to our loved ones about Boris's story...a surreal and impossible task.  First: why Borko Kid?  It's his nom de guerre from his boxing days in Cuba.  We thought it an appropriate time to resurrect the Borko Kid and his fighting spirit given that's exactly how Boris K is viewing this bummer of a diagnosis. Which brings us to the second part of the "story:” He has esophageal cancer.  And we really hoped to reach everyone before blasting this out, but again, he just got the diagnosis and we're in our own plan and attack mode. So please accept our apology if this is how you are finding out.  The plan: Head to MD Anderson in Houston, which is by all accounts, THE place to go for this diagnosis. We will be at his first appointment Tuesday, March 28th.  All we know right now is that he has a treatable tumor and NO metastasis!! We will know more after our appointment next Tuesday. Given the shift to Houston, there is really no need for anything at this point other than love, prayers (if you’re so inclined), or just sending plain old good healing vibes!  We promise we will ask for help when we need it.  We also request that you refrain from calling at this point.  Both of the B Kozolchyks in Tucson are ever- so-slightly overwhelmed.  Still, the Borko Kid—having just come fresh off a hand surgery—is back in the pool doing his laps and generally getting ready for what’s coming.  And though she doesn’t do laps, Billie’s recently broken arm continues to improve daily. So we are all full of hope and positive energy going into this thing, and ask you to be as well!  We send our love out to you all and will be in touch next week. **Please do leave messages here and we will be sure to share them with the kid!
