It’s not the news we wanted , but mom has been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer . It is a very aggressive form of cancer that does respond well to treatment if caught early . Right now, it’s contained to her left lung. She is having a MRI of her brain done today to determine if it is limited vs extensive stage of cancer . The tumor does have some lymph node involvement in her left lung but we are hoping it hasn’t spread to her brain which will cause it to be extensive stage and incurable . We have been at Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa today and saw the most amazing thoracic oncologist Dr. Saltos . He spent 1.5 hours reviewing her diagnosis and treatment plan with us . She will begin chemo and radiation within the next week and begin the fight of her life . We are also grateful to Julie Harris and Dr. Gay for finding the tumor early and immediately seeking treatment options for her . We are hopeful it hasn’t spread and will keep this updated once we have the MRI results . Please keep her in your prayers as she begins this journey. God is faithful and good and I know that He and my Nana are going to help her win this battle . She is strong and cancer is not going to knock her down .. ❤️❤️❤️ Charity
