Bonnie Moore

First post: May 15, 2017
As most of you know, my mother, Bonnie Moore had back surgery this past week. I've started this Caring Bridge site because I could not stay in Lexington and don't want to leave Mom without any help. I know many of you are ready, willing and able to help her out and I chose this site as a way to coordinate help for her.

Bonnie had a laminectomy to stop the progression/degeneration of the scoliosis caused by arthritis in her back. As a result of the surgery, which has already made her be able to stand up straighter (yay!), she has some restrictions and needs some assistance to do some things. She can not bend over, bend backward or twist her back for 4 weeks. She also has to use a walker to get around. She is also restricted to 20 minutes of sitting up straight before she has to either recline on the couch or lie down in bed. That eliminates quite a bit of things she can do for herself.

Baptist Home Health will be helping Bonnie for as long as they deem it necessary, but it will only be for a couple times a week. As of our meeting with the Occupational therapist on Monday, they will come twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is not set in stone yet, but will probably be when they come. This is where she needs your help. She will need volunteers to help her with things like helping prepare meals (not necessarily bringing her food, but helping put food on the plate from the refrigerator or cabinet since she can't bend over and maybe helping her prepare things like chicken salad, pimiento cheese spread etc. to have on hand in the fridge), giving Kopper the cat his pills and putting food out for him, washing  clothes, light grocery shopping and some bathing help.

Most of these tasks do not take much time and any assistance would be most appreciated. Please prayerfully consider what you can do, even if you only pray for Bonnie and her recovery.

Thank you so much!
Elizabeth, Bonnie's daugher
