Bonnie is a wife to Jim of 44 years, Mother of 5, Sister to 4, and Nana to 10 delightful grandkids.  She's an active lady who loves the LORD and finds great joy when she's with her family and friends.

Mom Bon suffered a stroke Saturday morning around 8am while water skiing on Gull Lake, per the doctors here at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. It was a beautiful, calm morning, perfect for skiing. Kelly did a lap around the lake, and Bonnie decided to follow. She popped right up and was one turn away from the dock when we saw her fall. Kelly and Jim brought her into the dock, and after we lifted her up, she was able to speak and understand where she was. We called 911, and the ambulance was at the cottage in a matter of minutes. The first of several small blessings.

She was taken via EMT to Borgess, and was brought to the ICU after the CT scan revealed a brain bleed near the stem. Based on the location of the bleed and the risk involved, the neuro surgeons are not able to operate surgically.   Bonnie has been put on a breathing tube, and they have been monitoring her blood pressure. They have been giving her a high concentration of saline in an effort to reduce swelling, and have been giving medication to strengthen her.

All of Jim & Bonnie's kids arrived from out of state between 6 and 7pm Saturday night, which was a huge blessing. The staff has been phenomenal, we are very pleased with the nurses and doctors’ procedure and communication. They provided our family with a conference room next to where Bonnie has been resting. We have been bunkered up here since last night, wired on coffee and Chic Fil-A. We passed the time listening to hymns, singing, praying, laughing, crying, and enjoying the company of all the family members that have been by. What a family.  Jim has been with Bonnie continuously, and the girls and Bryan have taken turns sitting at her bedside.

As Jim stated, we have “an army” of loved ones praying for her. We know that The Lord is in complete control, and we have surrendered to His will. It has been incredible to witness God’s love, and we can feel His presence around us and hovering over Mom! Please continue to pray with us and we will keep you updated.
