Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Thank you for visiting.
In Nov, 2019 Bob was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS-EB1), a rare form of early leukemia where cancer caused gene mutations prevent the blood cells from maturing. The long and the short of it is there is only one treatment course that could be considered curative: a Bone Marrow (Stem Cell) Transplant which aims to replace Bob's native (compromised) blood cell factory with a new one culled from an anonymous donor. Thanks to the dedication of a great team of doctors and nurses at the Virginia Piper Cancer Care Network, and the good fortune of being located right here in Scottsdale AZ - minutes from where we live - Bob began his treatment, entering the hospital on August 13, 2020.
Bob's road to recovery will contain many months (possibly a year) at-home of rehab and quarantine and will likely preclude his being able to work regularly. Our wonderful Grandson, Cedar, has setup a GoFundMe campaign to help defray some (!) of the incredible costs of this process. While there is absolutely no obligation to contribute, that GoFundMe campaign can be accessed by clicking the Ways to Help links at this CaringBridge site. Clicking on the Donate to CaringBridge links will take you to an option to donate for the good of the CaringBridge community at large, which we also encourage if you are so inclined,
