I hope this will help you understand Bob's journey, a journey that has been difficult and challenging for us.    I write this with many tears as I write about my husband.  To watch someone fight many illnesses, encounter many procedures,  and bounce back and hope,  "we got this".  2002 was a year that impacted our lives in many ways.  Happy and sad.   June 2002 Bob was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.  July 2002 Bob and I were married.  October 2002 my son Tyler died.  What a challenging year that was; however, we forged ahead!!  Fast forward to to a couple years ago.  Bob was diagnosed with pneumonia,  sepsis,  heart failure, and a cardiac stent placement.  He had 38 blood transfusions to keep his blood levels up due to being on plavix (which was ultimately discontinued) and numerous IV iron infusions to keep his iron levels up.   Throughout these past few years Bob had monthly lab draws to monitor his blood, iron, psa, etc.  Recently,  the past two months showed an elevation in liver enzymes and elevated PSA (prostate marker).  The doctors suspected the cancer was becoming active and moving around; metastasis to the bone and liver.  His weight was slowly going down over the past few years; however, these recent months presented a more drastic weight loss.  The hormone injections Bob received to slow down the prostate cancer was no longer working.  All of his lab results started to rise.  So, with all of this said, hospice referral has been initiated...another journey.
