Bob's journey began with a Groucho Marx quote "I don't want to belong to any club that will accept people like me as a member".  He said, trust me, I don't want to be here either.

February 2, 2019 is when Bob and Jody's life changed forever.  He found out he has cancer, starting in his kidney and spreading to his lung and liver.  Bob had noticed in January his workouts were more difficult and his breathing was off, often ending in wheezes.  At Jody's urging, Bob scheduled a doctor apt for Jan 29th.  That appointment turned in to a few more over the next couple of days and on February 2nd was the call that forever changed Bob's life.  Jody's life.  His children's lives.  This was an absolute gut punch to him and everyone that is lucky to know Bob.  It's still so surreal, he's always been the epitome of health, strength and energy.  Bob is an avid cyclist so not being able to work out has been taxing on him emotionally and physically.  He adjusted his work outs to yoga and short walks.  Bob took quite the optimist approach with his cancer, often posting jokes.  Bobs journey with treatment and triumph, he really liked that phrase and often used it.  In the last 6 months, Bob has endured several hospital visits, nephrectomy, operations, procedures, biopsy's, broken rib and in the end the cancer is just too aggressive.    Unfortunately Bob has the most aggressive, rarest forms of kidney cancer, Advanced Metastatic Sarcomatoid Renal Cell Carcinoma.  It's ugly, it's evil, it's fast, it's pure awful.   The last thing Bob would want is to let this past 6 month, this evil cancer to define him.  He has been such a fighter!! He is just the most gentle, smart, generous, easy going, funny and fun loving human there is.  Bobs treatment and triumph has went from years and years to months and months to an excruciating weeks and days.  Not a day goes by without Jody by his side, she needs all the love and support as well as prayers for Bob.

Several folks have asked for an address to send letters and cards.  Please, please respect that this address is just for mailing.  Jody and Bob would like to maximize his time left with family and close friends.  Please understand although they would love to see everyone, it's not feasible so please refrain from unplanned visits or surprise drop by's.  The thought is so appreciated but it's time to focus on Bob and Jody's wishes.  Thank you for understanding.
