Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

In August 2018, I was diagnosed with a rare bile duct cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) that had already spread to several spots in my lungs, liver and abdominal wall.  The first 2 months have been difficult mostly due to all of the "life adjustments" forced upon Marie and me.  However, we have made significant progress.  My physical symptoms (primarily fatigue and malaise) have improved.  Fluid is no longer accumulating in my abdomen and my breath sounds (lungs) are clearer.  I've felt good enough recently to walk short distances in the mountains with friends and to do one 9-mile bike ride.  Repeat abdominal CT scans (the media that discovered my problem) were obtained Oct. 23.  By comparing new scans with the ones from August, we saw that the largest tumor has shrunk a little, one new metastasis was found.  We are now considering additional therapies.   Feel free to comment on any posts Marie or I make.
