Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. As many of you know, Bob went to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on May 31 for an outpatient procedure to place a stent to treat an aneurysm in his brain that had increased in size. The procedure appeared to be a success but unfortunately Bob suffered a stroke as he prepared to leave the hospital. He has since suffered a second stroke. The strokes affected his control over the muscles on the right side of his body and his ability to speak. Bob had some tough weeks in Iowa City recovering from the effects of the strokes. During this time, he healed from infections, was placed on a respirator periodically, and had a tracheotomy. On July 1st Bob was transferred to LTAC at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines to begin physical and speech therapy.    We will continue to update you on Bob's progress through this website. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
