First post: Dec 9, 2019 Latest post: Jul 11, 2021
In August, 2019, Bob fell and broke 3 ribs. We went to the ER and as the Doctors were evaluating him they discovered a lesion on one of his ribs and some lesions on his spine.  He was admitted to the hospital and many tests were performed. During his hospital stay, the Doctors discovered Multiple Myeloma. Bob has had difficulty breathing throughout this time. We went back to the ER in September and the trauma team put in a chest tube. They drained 2 Liters off immediately and 5 more liters over the next 2 weeks in the hospital. He had 5 radiation treatments. Bob came back home after that 2-week stay and started Chemo Therapy Treatment. He was retaining fluid and on October 30th we went back to the ER.  After he was admitted, his Hematologist/Oncologist let us know that one of the bone biopsies sent off to Mayo Clinic for further testing showed Bob also has Amyloidosis. That night (at midnight) they transferred Bob to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to see some specialists & have a Cardiac MRI.  He stayed 2 days and then was released for further treatment in Johnson City. He has had 2 rounds of Chemotherapy and starts his 3rd round on Monday, Dec 9th. We travel back to Vanderbilt to meet with several doctors this week.
