After six week, here’s my story…I
o Collapsed and a had a hospital stay for four days - Sept 3 – Sept 7
o Confirmed the Bone Marrow test of Mantel Cell Lymphoma - Sept 14
o Conducted a Pet Scan of the body – mid September
o Attended numerous doctor’s visits with second opinion confirming treatment - Sept 14 – Oct 16
o Began today’s journey in the life of chemotherapy with God, family and friends by my side and abroad – Oct 23
Prognosis seems very promising compared to initial thoughts/diagnosis. This is a very rare form of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We have decided on a plan of chemotherapy action with Dr. John Mathews at Medical City Dallas.
Expected response is “complete remission”
There are no plans for surgery; however I had a double port implanted on Friday, October 20
Treatment has been approved as outpatient care:
· RBAC
o Rituximab
o Bendamustine
o Cytrabine (Ara-c)
§ There are no plans for radiation, but possible Stem Cell Transplant after six months of treatment.
§ Normal monthly treatments will occur over a week; Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 (three days in a row) and Day 5 will consist of a white cell booster – Neulasta.
§ There will be three weeks off and blood test and doctor visits in between with possible blood transfusions or blood platelets as needed.
§ Treatment will then be repeated for six months.
I appreciate the support from ALL…I’ve learned I’m stronger than I knew, braver than I thought…and more loved than I could imagine. I feel God by my side along with my family and friends. I currently feel good and want to continue to be positive. Don’t hesitate to reach out, but please keep all of us in your prayers.
